Tenneco Boosts Investment in UK Facility Serving OE, Aftermarket Customers

BRUSSELS September 2016 - Tenneco is increasing its investment in its Birmingham, England, manufacturing and distribution complex, which provides a broad range of Clean Air and Ride Performance products to leading vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket customers. Among the aftermarket products distributed through the expanded facility are Monroe® shock absorbers and suspension parts and Walker® and Fonos® emissions control components.

Located in Birmingham’s Tyseley district, the facility will gain 75,000 square feet of warehouse space as well as new offices and conference space. Approximately 50,000 square feet of warehouse space will accommodate aftermarket product operations. Employment also has increased to meet growing production and distribution requirements. Tenneco also handles just in time (JIT) production of original equipment (OE) emission control and ride performance products for delivery to UK-based vehicle manufacturers from the Birmingham site.

“Our aftermarket business in the UK and across Europe has experienced significant growth over the past year and we are confident we can continue to build on this momentum through our expanded footprint in Birmingham,” said Bruce Ronning, vice president and general manager, Tenneco Europe Aftermarket.

Among the anticipated drivers of continued growth, Ronning said, are an extended warranty now offered on the company’s aftermarket-focused Walker product line as well as the recent introduction of a new Monroe shock absorber offer – Monroe OESpectrum® shocks – for European passenger vehicles.

“The close alignment of our original equipment and aftermarket businesses enables us to introduce world-class replacement products that help restore the vehicle's original ride and handling performance,” he added. “Our leadership in technology, product quality and technical support have helped fuel our growth.”
